The country’s oldest and finest artistic center, Lucknow has got a unique mixture of fine arts, literature, business activities and traditional features, and thus it is right to call the city as the ‘Golden City of the East.’

Tourist Attraction

The imperial architecture of the city and its splendid monuments attract people from all directions, say for example the Rumi Darwaza being the fine architectural style of Awadh, and the Chhota Imambara is one of the oldest and significant monuments of the city, etc… If you take a close look at these monuments, you could see that the monuments and architectural structures portray the significance of historical reigns of the state. The transport facilities in the city have been increasing tremendously to support the tourism activities in the city, which has also got plans for the high capacity mass transit system.

A Destination of Arts

The city had been an artistic and rhetoric inspiration for ages, the classical Indian dance, Kathak took a great shape from this place and it had been a big inspiration to the Bollywood film industry too. Many script writers, film makers, lyricists, musicians, etc… have been created in the country and the credit goes to the city. The Bhatkande Music Institute university is been named after the great musician Pandit Vishnu Narayan Bhatkande and it has never ceased its actions in attracting people from Sri Lanka, Nepal, and other countries to learn music in the university. The city is quiet popular for its ghazal music, drama institutions, music universities, besides journalism too. The newspaper namely, National Herald which had been started by the country’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, has been established from Lucknow. Moreover, all the major newspapers in the country have their offices in the city.
